Old Parish Registers (Scotland)
|
Prior
to the introduction of Civil Registration, records of births, baptisms, marriages
and burials were maintained by the established Church. Whilst the majority of
the surviving records can go back to the early 19th century they are invariably
incomplete or don't exist for some parishes.
However, any record
that is found can prove invaluable in taking that step further back into time.
FamilyHistoryBuddy.com
is able to search the surviving records for all parishes. If the required entry
is found then a transcribed copy of the birth, baptism, marriage or burial will
be provided to you.
As much information
as possible is required to help us in the search for the relevant birth record.
Ideally, to find
the required Birth/Baptism we need the following:-
- Name of the
child
- Sex of the child
- Date of Birth/Baptism
- Place of Birth/Baptism
- Name of Father
- Maiden name
of Mother
Ideally, to find
the required Marriage we need the following:-
- Name of the
Groom
- Name of the
Bride
- Name of Groom's
Father
- Name of Groom's
Mother
- Name of Bride's
Father
- Name of Bride's
Mother
- Groom's address
at time of Marriage
- Bride's address
at time of Marriage
- Date of Marriage
- Place of Marriage
Ideally, to find
the required Death/Burial we need the following:-
- Name of the
deceased
- Sex of the deceased
- Date of Death/Burial
- Place of Death/Burial
- Name of Father
- Maiden name
of Mother
However, if all
of the above information is not available we at FamilyHistoryBuddy.com will
strive to find the record you require.
