Nationwide Census records have been collated since 1841 and every 10 years thereafter excluding 1941. The following Census records are open and available for searching:

7th June 1841

31st March 1851

8th April 1861

3rd April 1871

4th April 1881

6th April 1891

31st March 1901

The records contain detail such as:

Name

Approximate age

Marital Status

Occupation

Birthplace (Limited information provided if the birthplace is outside of the country in which the Census was taken)

As much information as possible, is required to help us in the search for the relevant Census entry.

Ideally, to find the required Census entry we need the following:

Name of the individual

Sex of the individual

Date of Birth

Place of Birth

Full address at the time of Census to be searched
